So I went home, in a flurry of activities, I went to Hannah’s baby shower, Grace’s baby shower. Weird to see them both like 7 months pregnant since I’ve known them both since birth. Saw Christin and my cutie nephew, Adam. Helped my mom and sister with wedding preparations. We finished the party favors, worked on some other things. Went to church and saw the awesome people there. Turned 25. Had a family birthday party. Got to hang out with Emily and Laurie on their way back home from a weekend in Colorado. My dad’s sister’s, Mary and Kathy arrived on Wednesday – so great to see them!! Decorated at Kim’s for Sarah’s Bachelorette party. My mom’s cousin, Star and his wife, Susan, arrived from Texas on Thursday and we decorated at the church. For Sarah’s party, we went to Cheddar’s then back to Kim’s for cake, punch, and panties. =] Friday, we decorated our yard, with the help of many people. Had the rehearsal dinner, the wedding rehearsal, and spent time with family. Everything went pretty smoothly on Wedding day! Most of us bridesmaids and Sarah had our hair done by Chantal, who works at Chili’s with Sarah. Got all beautified and did photos. Sarah was absolutely, breathtakingly gorgeous! Everything went very smoothly, Bill cried, I cried, we all cried. Bill dropped the ring. They said their vows, pronounced man and wife, kissed the bride. The reception was beautiful! They cut the cake, drank the juice, danced their first dance, danced with Dad and Tina, tossed the bouquet and garter, and left in a shower of fireworks and love! I trust William to take care of my sister, I don’t think any of us could have chosen a better man to take care of her. They are perfect for each other in their goofiness!! =]

Sunday at church, I could not stop crying. (Wow, I’m about to make myself cry again! Shoot!) I had to sit at the back because I just couldn’t stop! I cried a lot the rest of that day and the next. Ok, still crying!! Ha! Wow, change is weird, good, hard! Monday, I went to lunch with Mom and Dad, Mom took me to the airport, we laughed, we cried, she kept trying to talk to “Mr. Police Man,” and he kept not hearing her. I spent the night in the Miami airport. I think I slept for 2 hours. I had an early flight to Haiti where my team and Vogly met me at the airport. Oh and bonus! I slipped in the mud right outside the building. We went to the Capital Coach Lines bus station and bought our tickets for the 10 am bus to Santo Domingo. Went to Belville, packed in a 20 minute frenzy, forgot several things, rushed back to the bus station praying for no traffic the entire way. Made it with 10 min to spare, then sat in the bus for 30 minutes before we left. Rode in the bus for 7 hours. Waited to be picked up at the bus station by SD YWAM staff. Arrived at the base, ate and got settled in. We have been met by so much hospitality and been blessed so much already. I’ll write another update on Monday after we get back from a weekend outreach trip to Santiago.

Much love from the Dominican Republic!!!

About leahgduncan

I'm just a woman that wants to serve Jesus Christ with her whole life. I want to live with my hands wide open to Him, letting him fill my hands and take things away as He pleases. I currently live in Port au Prince, Haiti, working with an international missions organization called Youth With A Mission (YWAM). I love Haiti and know that I will be attached to Haiti for the rest of my life. At this time I don't know if that means I'll always live here, but I know I'll always come back here.
