So the Lord has been speaking to the school about generosity. He’s really been challenging me to live with my hands wide open to the Lord so that He is able to keep placing things in my hands and He’s able to take them away. Usually when I think about this, my first thought is about money. But it’s many other things as well: my computer, clothes, food, relationships, outreach location, etc. After I realized this and committed to living with my hands open, some of our fees were due. Staff fees are due at the beginning of each month, which are $250. Also, the first $300 out of $1200 was due for our outreach fees. I was a little worried when we started talking about outreach money because I also have a $3200 hospital bill from when I was in the hospital with malaria. I do have money saved up from when I sold my car and when I worked in September/October when I was home. I have been a little ahead on paying my staff fees from the support checks I’ve been receiving here. This money had gone lower than it had been since I got here and I realized it was time to pay my staff fees and $300 for outreach. I started to freak out because I didn’t have enough. For some reason, I didn’t bring checks here, so even though I had the money in my bank account, I couldn’t get it here. But I paid the money that I did have and said, “OK, Lord, I’m living with my hands wide open and I’m trusting You to supply for my needs.” A few days later, I was looking for some clothes and found an envelope that had $247 in it. Tears came to my eyes as I realized God was providing for me. A few days after that, I was informed that in all the confusion with Lucy leaving and Kyle taking over accounting that we never received our support for one month. I was blown away by God’s provision for me! So yeah, even though I’m still a little nervous about my hospital bill and all that, I’m still trusting the Lord to provide. But I know He’s done way bigger things than this!

Something else I’ve been praying and worrying about is my future. My commitment with YWAM Port au Prince is up at the end of the DTS in mid-November. I have a few things on my radar, but still seeking the Lord on what He will have me do. I would love if you would partner with me in praying for this and let me know if God tells you anything about me.

I’ll give you a little update about our team. We are definitely not going to the U.S.A. We’re pretty sure we are going to the Dominican Republic and possibly another location. Our students still need quite a bit of money, but we’re trusting God to provide it! Also, some people were moved from the Benin team because of different circumstances such as money, lack of passports, lack of visas. So we welcomed Joane and Vanessa into our team this past week! We are taking a team photo this afternoon, so I will hopefully get that up tonight!

Thank you for praying for me and the other staff and the students!!

About leahgduncan

I'm just a woman that wants to serve Jesus Christ with her whole life. I want to live with my hands wide open to Him, letting him fill my hands and take things away as He pleases. I currently live in Port au Prince, Haiti, working with an international missions organization called Youth With A Mission (YWAM). I love Haiti and know that I will be attached to Haiti for the rest of my life. At this time I don't know if that means I'll always live here, but I know I'll always come back here.
