Time is going so quickly!! This is the time of DTS where we need to crunch down on getting the rest of our money for DTS and outreach. There are 8 of us on the outreach team going to the United States. This week we are working on the Haitians getting visas to the U.S. This past week as we were in St. Marc, we had a time of prayer and intercession to see where the Lord would like us to go. We got quite a few places. First of all, let me tell you a little bit about our team:
Derose Saint-Georges, Male, Haitian, 22 yrs old
Johny Jean Louis, Male, Haitian, 22yrs old
Desure Demero, Male, Haitian, 27 yrs old
Jean Wilclif “Wiclif” Francois, Male, Haitian, 22 yrs old
Genese Datine Francois, Female, Haitian, 29 yrs old (wife of Robert)
Nathan Chace, Male, American, 24 yrs old
Robert Francois, Male, Haitian, 30 yrs old (husband of Genese)
Leah Duncan, Female, American, 24 yrs old
As we had the students pray about where God wants them to go on outreach, we had the names of the locations written on the board: Benin, Africa; Brazil; Jamaica; Dominican Republic; Haiti. Notice the US is not on the list. As they prayed they felt like the Lord was saying the US. He gave them different pictures and confirmations of writing down the US. During staff training, Nathan had felt the Lord leading him to take a team to the US, but it didn’t look like it was going to work out. So when 5 students felt wrote down the US, the staff prayed about it some more and felt like God was confirming this team.
We strongly feel that it is supposed to be a trip highly based on God’s provision for us. We don’t want to bring a whole lot of money. I think right now, our budget is $1,200 per person. This will cover airline tickets and fuel to road trip around the country sharing the love of God. That’s a pretty cheap outreach. But, altogether is $9,600. We are confident that the Lord will provide us with places to stay and people to feed us. If you are reading this and your spirit is agreeing and would like to help us in some way, whether it’s providing us a place to stay, food to eat, money for food or a place to stay, your van to cart us around, or support for the Haitians to be able to go on this outreach, please let me know. It costs $140 US just to apply for the visa. It is very hard to support raise in Haiti as most people are so poor. But it has been amazing to see people with next to nothing walk out in generosity. So as Sean, our school leader, is so fond of saying, we will do the possible, and God will do the impossible.
We are not going on outreach to give these students an opportunity to go to different countries. It’s not just some fun trip we’re just doing. We want to further the kingdom of God. We want to bring hope out of Haiti, a place viewed as lost in despair. From a country whose government has SO many problems, our Haitian students want to pray for our government. We want to pray for healing for those hurting physically, spiritually, emotionally etc. As our lives have been changed through DTS, we want to see transformed lives.
This is longer than I intended it to be, but I feel like this is what the Lord is wanting me to say.
I will try to get some pictures of our team up soon, and more information as it comes about where we’re going.
Please keep us in your prayers about visas getting approved, outreach money getting raised and unity among the team members.
Much love!

About leahgduncan

I'm just a woman that wants to serve Jesus Christ with her whole life. I want to live with my hands wide open to Him, letting him fill my hands and take things away as He pleases. I currently live in Port au Prince, Haiti, working with an international missions organization called Youth With A Mission (YWAM). I love Haiti and know that I will be attached to Haiti for the rest of my life. At this time I don't know if that means I'll always live here, but I know I'll always come back here.
